Karate

Karate being the most primitive method of martial arts means empty hand in Japanese Language. Karate was initially originated in early 16th century from a fighting style known as 'te' which means hand in Japanese. The respective fighting style was influenced by earlier methods of Kung fu. Funakoshi Gichin, an Okinawa school teacher first brought the modern form of Karate in Japan in1922, Funakoshi Gichin is also known to be father of modern Karate. It was Funakoshi who added philosophical aspect by forming a new martial art style called Karate-do, which emphasized more on state of mind of the fighter.

The traditional uniform of karate consists of loose white trousers and a jacket with a rank belt. The advancement in Karate ranks required expertise in three areas:-

The basic movements known as The Kihon
Defined sequence of moves known as Kata
Freestyle Sparring known as Kumite

Each Karate style comprises of 12 stylize kata, with specific purpose for every kata, each sequence represent the contributions of numerous style masters.
